Kate Simmons, LMSW
"While it can be overwhelming seeking a therapist, taking steps to find support during difficult periods is so important. My goal is to provide a warm, safe space where we can explore and gain understanding of your emotions and concerns."
Available for telehealth sessions ages 16+
While life transitions and difficult emotions can be isolating and overwhelming, they don’t always have to be. Humans are built for connection and the safe, trusting environment of therapy can be transformative. I am passionate about providing a nonjudgmental space for individuals to gain understanding of their experiences and feelings. Those seeking space to process, gain skills or knowledge, or generally increase support may benefit from this space. I have worked with people from a broad range of environments and primarily work with parenting, life transitions, anxiety, and relationships.
My approach to therapy is one that centers collaboration, compassion, and respect. I value authenticity and use a strengths-based and trauma informed approach to address your needs. In sessions with me, you can expect a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, self compassion work, and neurobiology. I believe understanding emotions can lead to greater comfort addressing the challenging moments in life.
In sessions with me you can expect a warm, nonjudgmental space. I am an LGBTQ+ affirming clinician. I’m looking forward to talking with you about how to best support your needs!
I live in Grand Rapids with my husband, daughter, and high energy yellow lab. Outside of work I love reading, doing yoga, and spending time with friends and family.
