Susie Kim-VanderGriend, LMSW
"Life can be complicated with challenging experiences, thoughts and feelings and it is important to know you are not alone."
Available for Telehealth or in-person sessions ages 18+.
As a therapist, I strive to provide a secure space for you to engage in a non-judgmental, collaborative relationship. I believe in the inherent strength and unique gifts you possess. I trust that together, we can work to make sense of what is happening now and in the past; find opportunities for growth and healing; and lead more empowered and fulfilled lives.
I am well versed in supporting women in the various transitions of family life. Whether you are trying to start a family, pregnant, experienced trauma or loss, navigating the postpartum period, or figuring out how to manage the pieces of it all, I am here to support you where you are. I understand the challenges couples face as they seek to understand and support each other in life and in parenting, and utilize Emotionally Focused Therapy to help couples in distress.

My style is client-centered and strength based with a genuine heart to actively utilize various evidenced based practices to meet your goals. I have specialized training in Perinatal/Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD), EMDR (specialized trauma modality), Cognitive Behavior Therapy, and EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples, individuals and families). I integrate attachment theory, mindfulness practice, somatic awareness, motivational interviewing and solution-focused therapy with other approaches to bring what is needed into the therapy space.
On a personal note, I live in Grand Rapids with my husband and three children. I love to experience new cultures, enjoy nature, eat good food and spend time with friends.
